VoIP Voice Over Internet Protocol VoIP. You may have heard the term VoIP, which stands for Voice over Internet Protocol. It allows you to make telephone calls using your internet connection which makes it much cheaper than traditional telephone lines. Skype are perhaps the most well known public provider of the service. Our phone bills halved when we first trialled VoIP.

However, there have been complaints about the quality of the sound and it also suffers from the restriction that you have to be sat by your computer using a headset when making calls, or you need a separate telephone, meaning you would have two on your desk.
