For an unbiased view of Windows 7, read the article at the BBC websiteWindows 7

We were unsure about Vista when Microsoft launched it. There seemed to be lots of problems, especially with remote access, and downgrading to XP Pro (which people were comfortable with) also brought its own issues.

We're quite happy with Windows 7 though. It seems to work fine and offers a variety of useful features, although if you've used Vista before you will recognise them. It also has some similar features to Apple products, so if you're used to iPhones or iPods you should see many familiar aspects.

So if you're buying a new PC or laptop, putting Windows 7 on it is fine by us. It was launched in October 2009 so most initial teething problems will be resolved by now. If you want an unbiased review, this article from the BBC will give you a good introduction to the features http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8315298.stm.

Xobni is a tool that sits in Outlook as a side bar and allows you to search and find information contained within Outlook. As well as full contact details, it can also find conversations and social networking details from the internet, bringing them all together in one convenient place. Very handy if you have lots of contacts and need access to them simply and easily.

The site http://www.xobni.com/learnmore/#tutorials has a short video demo which shows what the Xobni toolbar is capable of. The basic package is free but additional options can be paid for if you want a more powerful application.
